Six more weeks of winter

That's what Punxsutawney Phil predicted when he saw his shadow this morning. This year, his prediction will affect us because... we have a real winter. I don't believe Phil. It's been a mild winter so far. Only a few days with snow.

The movie Groundhog's day was on. I watched it in HD. This movie is becoming one of my favorite movies.

License plate

Took me... FIVE months to finally register the car, but officially only 60 days (ahem).
Goodbye California. I'm still a Angels Baseball Season ticket holder.

Bike collector

Not sure why this truck is full of bikes. My guess would be they remove bikes that are locked in one space for too long.

Ensenada Cruise

We went on a cruise to Ensenada cruise to Mexcico on Carnival Cruise lines. For the most part the cruise was great. Valerie was sick (cold). We didn't get sea sick from the motion and did not need to take any medication for it. Lots of food, but the food was ok. It wasn't great.

We wanted to go horseback riding in Ensenada, but got rained out. Bummer.

I didn't want to pay for the outrageous internet rates on the ship. So when we were in Ensenada, I paid $1.50 for a newspaper to look up a Lakers score. Lakers beat Philly.


We went to this little shop on the port. It was raining so we didn't want to go to town.


Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!


There was a $10 sale in this shop on the ship. It was packed with women. Valerie (the super shopper) gave up because it was hot and she couldn't move.


We were on the official cruise video. They played it in our room to preview. I just took a photo of the video.

Winter in Orange County

We spent the holidays in O.C. It doesn't excuse the inactivity here for a whole month.

The snow bulldozer

Heard some noises outside. It was a guy clearing the snow from the driveway with a bulldozer. No shoveling for me.

We got about 4-5 inches from this storm. Lots of snow, then sleet, then more snow.

Bags of leaves

These kinds of bags are left out all over town. Not sure exactly where the leaves go once they get picked up.

Rubber mats for the car

Changed out my carpet mats for these rubber mats. This will come in very handy when the snow comes.

You don't see sleds like this in the toys sections of a Southern California Target.

Got some Road Runner brand salt to put down. Suppose to make the ice melt away. We'll see if it works.

Ice and leaves

Walking to the gym i spotted some leaves in what use to be puddles. The temperature dropped cause the water to freeze. Some very beautiful photos.

Frozen plant pot

The hydrangea pot didn't have any drainage. After it rained and the temperature dropped, ice started to form. I've brought the pot inside just to melt the ice and dry it out. Hopefully the hydrangea I brought on the road trip from California to Connecticut didn't die.

De-icer fluid for the windshield wipers

Suppose to melt the ice on the windshield. I think it also adds a layer to protect the windshield from gathering ice on it. We'll see how well this works.

Light snow then sleet

We woke up Yesterday morning to snow. It was very light but still made the black pavement gray. At night there was sleet. I guess that's rain that's really really cold. What happens is the ground gets wet and then freezes. This creates a layer of ice on everything. In order to walk, you gotta shuffle your feet because there is no traction. Valerie was driving and the car skid.

Connecticut Post Mall

Bought a 4-in-1 Jacket. Basically a 2 layer jacket with the inside reversable. Also got a neck warmer and a hat with flaps for the ears. See below for all three.
